THE 3-SENTENCE PITCH THAT GOT ME 12 PHYSICIAN MEETINGS

Pharmacist burnout isn’t permanent — the cage is | I mentor PharmDs to build consulting practices that bill insurance and replace W-2 income

February 20, 2026

Imposter syndrome tells you physicians don't need pharmacist consultants.

The 12 physicians who met with me in 30 days tell a different story.

I sent one email. Three sentences. No sales tactics.

And it worked.

The Problem With How Most Pharmacists Pitch

Most pharmacists approach physicians like they're writing a cover letter.

They lead with credentials:

  • "I have 15 years of experience..."

  • "I completed a PGY-1 residency..."

  • "I'm board certified in..."

Physicians don't care.

They care about one thing: Will this make my life easier?

That's it.

Not your CV. Not your certifications. Not your years of experience.

Can you solve a problem they're drowning in?

The 3-Sentence Structure

Here's the exact framework:

Sentence 1: Name the clinical problem they're drowning in.

Sentence 2: Position your service as the solution (with proof if you have it).

Sentence 3: Low-friction CTA (15-minute call, not a commitment).

That's it. Three sentences. No fluff.

Here's What It Looks Like

Example for primary care:

"Dr. Martinez, I noticed your practice serves a high volume of diabetic patients. I help primary care practices improve A1C control and reduce complications through pharmacist-led chronic care management. Would you be open to a 15-minute call to see if this fits your patient population?"

Example for cardiology:

"Dr. Johnson, I noticed your practice treats a high volume of heart failure patients. I help cardiology practices reduce 30-day readmissions through pharmacist-led remote patient monitoring. Would you be open to a 15-minute call to see if this fits your patient population?"

Example for post-discharge:

"Dr. Williams, I know transitions of care are challenging for your patient population. I help practices reduce readmissions and improve medication adherence through pharmacist-led transitional care management. Would you be open to a 15-minute call to see if this fits your workflow?"

For In-Person or Phone Approaches

When I'm standing in front of an office manager or calling an office, I open with this:

"You're probably wondering what a pharmacist is doing calling your office. It's not for a refill. It's not to discuss a prior authorization. It's actually to help your office."

That line has opened more doors for me than any brochure ever did.

Why? Because it immediately disrupts their expectation.

They expect pharmacists to be a pain in their ass - calling about refills, prior auths, insurance issues.

When you flip that script, they listen.

Why This Works

Sentence 1 shows you've done your homework. You're not blasting a generic pitch to every doctor in a 50-mile radius. You noticed something specific about THEIR practice.

Sentence 2 positions you as the solution - not a vendor, not a salesperson, but someone who solves a specific problem. If you have proof (reduced readmissions by 35%, improved A1C control in 6 weeks), include it.

Sentence 3 makes it easy to say yes. A 15-minute call is low commitment. You're not asking them to sign a contract. You're asking for a conversation.

The Math Behind the Pitch

I sent this pitch to 15 physicians.

  • 3 never responded (expected)

  • 12 agreed to a meeting

  • 8 moved forward with a pilot or contract

That's a 53% close rate from cold outreach.

Not because I'm special. Because the pitch is simple, specific, and solves a problem.

What Happens Next

Most pharmacists send this pitch... and then nothing.

They get one "no" or one non-response and they quit.

Here's the truth: 80% of consulting deals happen after the 3rd follow-up.

The pitch opens the door. The follow-up walks you through it.

But that's a topic for another article.

Your Turn

Take 10 minutes right now and draft your 3-sentence pitch.

  1. What's the clinical problem you solve?

  2. What's the outcome you deliver?

  3. What's your low-friction ask?

Write it out. Say it out loud. Refine it.

Then send it to ONE physician this week.

Not five. Not ten. One.

See what happens.

If you're wondering whether pharmacy consulting could actually work for your situation, I put together a quick assessment that gives you clarity in about 5 minutes. No fluff - just honest answers.
